is there any way to work around ISO files being burned to a cd, if your only working with USB? I want to install an extra xp os on my netbook, but only have usb. I would prefer to work around this instead of getting an external cd drive.

I guess my main question is are ISO files bootable from a usb if applied properly. I believe they are but want to hear your opinion.

before resizing the partitions. If you have any data on that partition i recommend defragmenting it in windows. Always back up the files in case something happens
