I recommend Adobe Lightroom as a superb tool for professional photographers. It is great for workflow and has some outstanding editing capabilities. If you use Mac, Aperture is similar to Lightroom and preferable by some. You can download a trial version of Lightroom. Give it a try!

There is nothing you can not do in the way of collages with Elements 7. Check out the eclectic academy for low cost ($30) courses. As of now I see they only go up to Elements 6, but anything done in 6 you can do in 7. This is a LOT cheaper than purchasing another program and more satisfactory since you are already somewhat familiar with Elements.
