I don’t mean to sound pedantic, but we’re talking about an operating system, not a “computer”. Buying a computer is not linked with my comment regarding the stability of an Operating system.
For your info - I’m using Windows 7 to write this, and it’s running on a Dell. I also use Linux sometimes depending on how I feel. I’m not shoving any of this in anyones face, was just saying that Linux IS the most stable. My comment was fact, not opinion.

What I meant was …
What I meant was that average run-of-the-mill computer users will say “pc” and you should be able to ume that at least 95% of the time (if not more) they are referring to a windows based os. So it’s kind of pointless to try and correct everyone about the proper way to use the term “PC”, as if anyone would care (excluding me of course XD).

I do it on a daily basis? My computer doesn’t suddenly change hardware architectures based on the OS I’m booted to…. I usually refer to people who consider the term “PC” to be synonymous with Windows to be technically un-savvy.

Agreed =] Linux doesn’t suck it’s just not exactly for average computer users. I’m a PC guys and right now I’m running Windows 7 beta but I’m open to ideas and I’ve tried both MACs and Linux.

75-90% of all web content is run on linux. the servers who provide you PHP Sites with MySQL Databases and stuff. all Linux. since over15 years.
the internet wouldn’t have spread so fast and affordable and secure without the power of linux.
it was never meant to be a play-, video- or even an officeOS. it’s perfect for a netbook. you can run all basic stuff and it’s completely safe. not like windows where everybody can read your HDD after removing it.
i use vista x64. but why hate other things?

Well if your smart …
Well if your smart enough(not calling anyone stupid here)you can recode/rewrite linux or the game or a seperate program entirely you want to play to work with linux, but it’s less time consuming to use PC for video games. Linux is mainly used for processing anyways.

just because linux is free, that doesnt mean its good. so you wont cheap out and get a crappy OS for free that you cant do anything on than pay for a proper os
