I say YES.
16 is much more mature at deciding what to eat and what not to, under 16 is a child and needs protecting.
Should it be illegal to sell junk food to children?
With strict punishments/heavy fines for breaking the law?
Parents, guardians or anyone over 16 will also be punished for buying junk food for under 16’s.
Even allowing them to look at junk food will be classed as child abuse.

No. It won’t do any good because it’s mostly parents that are supplying the junk food.
Parents need to stop abusing and neglecting their children. They need to show that they care and want their children to grow up to be who and what they want. I’m so glad that my parents taught us well. It was reasonable and therefore sustainable.
Junk food isn’t the problem. It’s the abundance of it that is the problem. It’s the not knowing when enough is enough.
Parents have dropped standards. They don’t want to be the bad guy or have to deal with rebellious kids. They make excuses.
It’s easy for me to say. I’m not a parent. I know that our society works against parents. There are many factors at work here.
I’m with you. I care about these kids and the futures they have. I would like them to have what I have had.

No. Junk food in itself is not dangerous. Do I think healthy alternatives should be available at schools? Absolutely. Do I think children should be FORCED to eat only healthy food and that people should be fined for selling it to them? Absolutely not.
I ate junk food as a kid (in moderation, like most kids) and was not obese. It’s a lifestyle change, not just a diet change that is needed. And when schools are cutting out phys. ed. and making their sports teams "elite" and ultra competetive (instead of just fun play time), this is making kids scared to play and sitting in classrooms all day.
By the way, I’m only 25, so "when I was a kid" was not that long ago. There’s no ONE thing that can change the problem of childhood obesity.

No. That would lead to an argument, because some people consider certain types of things junk food, while others may not. Also, children do need some sugar in their body to survive. And, we already have so many drug dealers, the last thing we need is junk food dealers.

You liberal. You think it’s okay for the government to tell you how to raise your kids? You think it’s okay for the government to enact a law saying "Obviously you’re stupid and you can’t feed your kids right, so Big Brother has to do it for you"
What next? Do you want Big Brother to tell YOU to stay off the internet because YOU are too stupid to realize that what YOU need is physical activity and sitting on your butt is not good for you.
Junk food is child abuse? That’s a helluva subjective statement. Who gets to determine what is junk food? Why not say all food that is not organic is junk food? Why not outlaw Red Dye #5? What about artificial sweetners? What about hotdogs? What about microwave popcorn or even popsicles?
Who are you to decide what I should or should not feed MY children?
Stop being willing to give up rights that mean nothing to you personally, because next on the agenda will be the rights you do care about.
In the United States I am still my kids mom. That is my right, responsibility; not the governments.
Do you think the government does such a great job that you are willing to let them tell you how to think, eat, dress, worship, exercise, how to school kids, what friends you should have and where to work?
You need to do some thinking before you spout off such ridiculous notions. I am outraged.

No, good god we have enough laws protecting ourselves from stupidity as it is.
That will never replace healthy eating and parents that care enough to insure their kids are eating right.
So we would continue to allow and endorse smoking but outlaw cheetos?
Your last line is pretty funny, they wouldnt be able to look at a candy bar but still watch violence and porn on TV every day?
C’mon, get real.
EDIT: Ohhhhhh God, Rusty is right . . . . . . . that is too funny, you had me going there. I actually thought this was a for real serious one.
Thanks for making me think and getting me riled up, I am laughing now.

Kids under 16 should be outlawed, period.
(Actually, that’s pretty funny, after I read it a time or two, I am convinced that is a hoax question and you really got a lot of people going with it, good one, high five)
