In India Cricket players as a team are publicly auctioned. Is this ethical and legal ?

Rich people and celebrities own cricket teams purchased in auction much like Indian elite buy and bet on herds of fighting bulls, fighting rams and male version of hens. It is illegal and considered unethical .Does such auctions occur outside India and or players of any other game ? Can money enslave humans ?Is slavery allowed if slaves are paid higher amounts for their work ?
How is this qualitatively different from bonded labor ?

The same things happen in club football. If a club wishes to buy a player who’s a free agent or belongs to another club, he has to compete and bid with other clubs similarly wishing to employ him.

It also happens in club basketball, baseball, rugby etc. It was only a matter of time for cricket to become a part of this culture as well.

Not that I approve of what T20 cricket and IPL has made of this once gentleman’s sport.

IPL is a business venture and T20 is the operating part/arm of that business. So there is nothing wrong teams vying to get best talent. Moreover, this auction action is based on foot auctioning of players.

Yes, yes & yes, cricket now is everything about BUSINESS, so many things but NOT AT ALL REAL CRICKET. It is slavery indded.
Old men like Kapil Dev(51) & Sunil Gavaskar(61) visit Switzarland & play cricket on snow for making money & claim that to be their novel idea though it was Chinese one who’re playing so since 1984, reported first by BBC TV. I too asked questions on Y/A about the same few years ago. We already have played the same on snow for hours at much higher altitudes( 14,000 feet) where no Indian test cricketer can ever withstand.
