Is it necessary to register as a Pvt ltd in India to start a advertisement company. i am the sole proprietor and what must be the minimum number of employees for a pvt ltd company must have and also is there some other kind of for profit non public company?
Under the Indian Companied Act a company, whether Public or Private has to register itself with the concerned RoC (Registrar of Companied). If you want to start it without being a pvt ltd, you have 2 options:
1. Register your company as Public Company with minimum 7 members excluding the no. of employees.
OR
2. Start your business as a sole properitorship or partnership firm.
and there is no minimum number of employees imposed by any legislation to start a business, even a company……….. you can start even with 1 employee, if you can………….

No, it is not necessary to register your company as a Pvt Ltd.
First start your company as a "Sole Proprietorship" one and after a period of time you can register and make it a Pvt Ltd.
Also, do remember Pvt Ltd is not a joke there are so many issues like Board of Members; you need to maintain certain records and many more.
So, as a startup firm it is better to go with a proprietorship one.
