I am building a PC on Dell’s website, but there is a huge sale on Samsung monitors at Best Buy. I know that technically, they can be attached, but am I going to be losing anything quality or performance-wise with doing it this way?

None at all. I recommend not buying a Dell monitor. Dell’s monitors are very nice but very overpriced. 95/100 people won’t notice the difference between a top of the line Dell and a cheaper Acer or Hanns-G or Samsung for that matter. Like someone else said go to NewEgg.com. odds are they can beat any deal you find at a store.

I have a laptop with Windows 7 and am using Internet Explorer 8. It is annoying for PC Dock to come up on my desktop when I start my computer. What do I do in order for that to stop?

You can stop programs from starting automatically by removing them from your system’s Startup List. You can access and edit the Startup List through a program called “System Configuration Utility”, or “msconfig”. To get into msconfig, do the following:
Click Start-> Click Run-> Type msconfig-> Click OK.
When the System Configuration Utility window opens, look at the set of tabs across the top of the window. Find the last tab, labeled “Startup”, and click it. This will show you the Startup List, which contains all of the items that start automatically when you boot your computer and Windows begins to load.
Now, you can remove programs that don’t necessarily need to load when your computer boots up.
When finished, you’ll need to reboot before your changes can take effect.

I am a Mac user but pc offers more games and online games that I can access. I’m wondering what my cost would be for a pc.

Actually, good PC hardware is not so much cheaper now - Apple narrowed the difference in price. What makes you think that Apple don’t make PC’s?

Equivalent quality might be had from IBM hardware, but it doesn’t have the same style - and your PC will be completely unable to run Mac OSX.

I looked into this last year, and to buy the gaming rig I’d be interested in would be around 1500, for a nice big iMac, the price was 1700 (with a slightly smaller graphics card).

It’s worth the little extra for MacOSX - so your internet browsing is worry free, and if ever one of them fails to boot (does that happen with OSX the way it does in Windows?) then you can always reboot and choose the other.

Remember also, with a normal PC you sit and watch BIOS booting for 20 seconds before you get to the stage where you turn on a Mac…

I have been trying to connect my laptop to my pc, i did created new connections names change names, in both PC and laptop, and now i dont know what is what. Is there a way to reset or clear that from both computes? Also If you know a site where i could follow instructions in detail to create a private network at home and share printer and some folders. Please help me.

are you connected with a cable or wireless?
if your connecting using wireless from the laptop and you have a wireless card in the desktop, go to the laptop en open network sharing center. choose to set up a new network. follow the prompts. then on the desktop just look for the signal and connect to it. put in the password and there you go.

if you hard wired, make sure the cable is a crossover cable. hold the end-connectors side by side and see if you can see the colors of the wires inside. the colors should be in a different order on the two.
then connect the two pc’s with the cable. open network and sharing center and choose the wizard to set up a new network. follow the prompts and there you go.

I have tried to copy the entire eidos file from my c drive and transfer it via memory stick from my laptop to pc, however when i load the game on my pc there are no saved games that i can load. I have to format my laptop shortly and look set to lose 300 hours worth of game play. Please help anyone.

I’m going to Europe for a while and I need to bring my Desktop PC with me. How can I do so without being hassled by the airport people? Can I bring it through transfer baggage (ie NOT carry-on…)? Please help.

There’s no one on the other end to receive it as postage, so it’s out of the question. What can I do?

The problem with sending the package to myself is: I’m worried that I might not arrive at my destination on time to receive it. I have an apartment in Cannes, France, and I’m worried some jackass might come and take it.

why cant you ship it to yourself. mail the package a few days before you leave and you should be there a day or so before it arrives. if youre staying at a hotel they’re accept the package for you, and some carriers like fedex will hold it in the shipping yard if you request it. but if you take it on the plane with you and there’s a problem they may take it apart or refuse to let it go, and this you may not know about until after you arrive in europe.

We have computers at my office that have been running for about 7 years (since we moved into the building we’re in now). My home desktops are never turned off. Laptops get turned off to take them somewhere. When they come back they’re turned on again.

I have a wireless router and both my pc and PS3 won’t recognize each other. I have it set to enable on my ps3 and both are connected to my wireless router. When I search for media server, it doesn’t find it. I would like to use Vuze as my server, but would use Windows Media Player if needed. I tried using WMP and couldn’t get it to find the ps3 either.

You need to make sure that your firewall or your router are not blocking your media server (for each server it can be a different port, so you need to check). Check your firewall settings and see if you need to set port forwarding in your router’s settings.
