Why does it show zero answers in the Answer Questions tab?

Posted by admin on February 20th, 2010 and filed under answers | 4 Comments »

When I go to a question to submit an answer, I often see several (sometimes lots) of previous answers to a question. However, the question in the list says there are zero (0) answers. Does Yahoo just not update the Answer Questions list very often? If so, why not?

If you are looking at the HOME page of Yahoo Answers, that will happen a lot. Here’s why. The question post first to the category it belongs it. Then, it posts to the home page. By the time the original question posting (showing ‘0′ answers) is posted on the Home page, it has already been answered by those of us that hang out in the category section, waiting to pounce and respond.

How do you pick a best answer when all the answers are good and helpful?

Posted by admin on February 18th, 2010 and filed under answers | 5 Comments »

Do you have some kind of criteria you use? Sometimes I will pick the one that is the longest, or the person who responded first with a good solid detailed answer.

I just asked how to make pie crust with a crushed cookie and 3 people already responded with awesome answers, each slightly different but the same idea.

I pick by one of three ways… first I check to see if one of my favorites is any better than the others. If I really can’t decide that, I check to see which has the most thumbs up. If they are the same I then check to see who has the fewest points on Y!A and pick the lowest one. And if all that doesn’t seem to pick the best one for me I just put the question to vote.

Can we vote for our own answers when a Yahoo Answers question goes into voting?

Posted by admin on February 16th, 2010 and filed under answers | 4 Comments »

When a question I’ve answered goes into voting and I feel like I have the best answer and vote for myself, the voting shows that I still have 0 votes and it will not let me vote again, even for someone else. It has done this to me several times. Are we not allowed to vote for our own answers?

There is a glitch in the voting and the thumbs up and down for the past week. If you go back to the question you will see it has registered, some answers say 6 have 100% votes so don’t worry it will register.

What are some sample questions and answers on the Illinois driver’s license test?

Posted by admin on January 19th, 2010 and filed under answers | 1 Comment »

I have to renew my license in Illinois (moved from Michigan) and was curious as to what some questions/answers on the test are. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thank you!

If you have a valid license from another state, and move to IL, these are the rules: To obtain an Illinois driver’s license, you must successfully complete a vision screening, written examination and possibly a driving examination, and pay the appropriate fee. An Illinois driver’s license is valid for four years. An Illinois ID card is valid for five years.

How often are you satisfied with the answers to your question on Yahoo Answers?

Posted by admin on January 16th, 2010 and filed under answers | 7 Comments »

When you ask a question on Yahoo Answers, how often are the answers satisfactory? 20% of the time? 50? 90? 100?
Please answer only if you’ve asked more than ten questions on YA.

The best responses by far have been on computer related questions. I have gotten some excellent advice on these matters.

Everything else is a crap shoot. I would say fifty fifty. When you ask people stuff anonymously on the internet you have to realize that some people will answer with good intentions and some will just try to jack with you.

When you receive answers for your question what makes you more happy ?

Posted by admin on January 10th, 2010 and filed under answers | 11 Comments »

More star marks , more number of answers , more answers from top contributors or more elaborate answers ? Frankly I am happy with all above , but I am most happy with elaborate answers , then more star marks , then answers from top contributors and then more number of answers. Even if there is one good answer I am happy. How about you ?

My friend,I prefer more elaborate answers…
but I also like star marks!!! By the way…I love STARS!!!
I really don’t care about the number of answers because I
consider Quality of answers more important than Quantity
of them.

How do i make a good Questiosn and Answers sheet in excel?

Posted by admin on January 3rd, 2010 and filed under answers | 1 Comment »

Hi All,
I would want to use an excel sheet to keep a track of all questions i ask and the answers that i get from my client, for this i simply use a question column and a answer column. However i am not able to understand how can i keep a track of counter question asked for a answer given from the client. Can anybody help me with a format for the same ?

Thanks in advance.
-UG

Since you don’t say what the layout of the current sheet is I will assume the following:
1.) Column A is for inputting a question (A1 is 1st Q, A2 is 2nd Q, etc)
2.) Col. B is for client name
3.) Col. C has formula to show 1st Question (=A1)
3.) Col. D is for that client answer

You can now input the 2nd question into A2 and repeat similar steps as Cols B, C, D with new Cols E, F, G.
Again I’m assuming that the 2nd question is the same for all clients and only the answer is unique.

Why is ANSWERS not updated to be responsive to current answer status?

Posted by admin on December 28th, 2009 and filed under answers | 2 Comments »

A question appears indicating there are zero answers. So I answer, preview and submit only to find out that the question has been answered half-a-dozen times. Wastes our time.

Site lag has been a problem from day one and it has never been fixed
