We are doing an experiment on why soil conducts electricity. Our procedure is to place a 9V battery in 3 inches deep of soil and place the multimeter needles on top of the soil and see how much voltage there is. Mud gave us the most voltage with 0.2 V out of the 9V battery and dry soil gave the least (0.03V). We want to know some applications that this is useful to and to the world

Sounds like the moisture content was the reason why mud conducted better. Cows standing under a tree in a thunder storm have been killed in 4 directions from the tree. Has anything been done to test electrical stimulation to root growth, it increases bone growth.

Are you planning on printing the catalog yourself or possibly making .PDF files to have printed off at a printing shop or some other option?

The usb ports work well enough with modem and camera. My PC is running on Windows XP Home, which is newly installed. The usb disk works fine in other computers.

My guess is the key word: Newly Installed. If you newly installed your OS, it could be that in the BIOS, it is set as BOOT TO USB, and after that fails, it needs to be unplugged to go to your secondary which is the HDD. This is sometimes done so you can plug in a USB CD-ROM and load an OS or whatever. To change this press whatever F# button to get into BIOS and change the BOOT TO to the HDD.

I have one stereo/speaker system in my family room (Yamaha AV receiver RX-V661) and the other stereo/speaker system (Sony FM Stereo/FM-AM Receiver STR-D665) is upstairs in my bonus room. There are no wires between these two systems. I also want 2 sets of wireless speakers for my deck and sun room. When I have a party, I want all of them to play the same songs from my PC media server. Is this possible?

But I’m finding that it’s simplest to do it all wireless. So Split the media server OUT signal to wirelessly xmit to both stereos..→the wireless party speakers system already came with wireless signal thrower from the PC right. ? so your server OUT signal must split to 4 .

My school finishes at 3.20 and I get home at around 4. I usually take a nice long show then sit round on the computer and eat for the next 2 hours. I then end staying up to mid night finishing my homework. I really want to get out of this habit this year. Any ideas on how I could do it? Also what time do you think is a good time to start my homework?

A friend of mine works in Saudi Arabia and is looking to import a second hand boat/tug from Jeddah to India. Although this is an industrial boat he wants to bring it down to India and convert it into a leisure yacht kind of boat . What I’d like to know is:

Certainly, the oil companies have no incentive to develop new technology, as they are making plenty of money already.

But Entrepeneurs who think that they can profit by selling technology to reduce or eliminate dependance on oil energy. While gas prices are so high, they might think they have a product that people will happily pay a lot for, if its still cheaper than oil-derived energy.

Your question relates to the development lifecycle. Of course, everyone would love to invest in a safe, mature technology that makes lots of money. But how does it get to be so mature and profitable? Because investors / entrepeneurs may be willing to take a risk in investing in technologies early, and making a huge fortune later. Not every investor has an appetite for risk, but many do: generally, the riskier the project, the higher the potential reward.

A classic example is Rockefeller’s Standard Oil holdings in the 1800 or 1900s. It was an immature technology, very few wells existed, but he saw the potential and took a risk on this early technology. As a result, he was one of the worlds richest men before the first cars were even produced en-masse.

High gas prices are actually an incentive to energy innovation. During the 70s when there was an oil crisis, many americans switched to cars with more fuel efficient technology - because the high cost of oil gave them a good reason to. In 10-20 years we’ll probably look back on gas prices today and say the same thing…that extortionate prices encourage innovators to come up with something better. If oil prices were cheap nobody would care too much about new technologies

What Loan company will take over my federal student loans when the loans are in forbearance so I can go back to school?

No one will "take over" your loans. You will still owe the money to your lender when you are in forbearance. They will simply add interest every month while you are making payments.

If you are asking about defaulting the lender will just contract out with a collection agency to start calling and hounding you to mail them payments. If you make 6 to 12 months worth of willing and reasonable payments you can ask your lender to "rehabilitate" your loan. This is when you are issued a new loan and pay off the one in default so you can get federal fin aid again. Again, rehabilitation can only be done after you have made 6 to 12 months of payments.
